I am a middle aged woman with MS and arthritis who uses my desktop for a lot of things...little to no "work" things...but I do write short stories, surf the internet for info, watch videos on the net, play computer games such as Yahoo games, sometimes store and edit photos, create greeting cards, do the whole email/IM thing with friends, occaisionally have to access manufacturers web sites for technical info. I'm not a "gamer" or a "photo editor" or even an "entertainment junkie". I want a reasonably priced laptop that will do a little bit of everything reasonably well. Since the mouse on most laptops is awkward for my hands wireless mouse capability would be a plus. Also I need to be able to hook up both a printer and something that will transfer the info from my old destop into the new computer and I'm a big fan of wireless internet connections. I realize I will probably have to buy more than just the notebook, but I don't even know what software to add! Help!

I would guess first of all you should go to the store and check out their touchpads. If the mouse is not quite your thing, then maybe something like a touchpad would help get where you need to be. I suspect the IBM/Lenovo "trackball" thingie might be a little uncomfortable for you, too (but what do I know?). I have one of those, and I also have an HP with its touchpad. The HP touchpad is quirky at first, but it has very adjustable settings by means of which you can, like, set the upper left corner become your left mouse button, and the upper right become your right mouse button, and down the middle be your scroller, and let it ignore too much slippage of your palm across the bottom, and on, and on! But check for YOUR hand. Go type a really long paragraph, really fast, and see if you can live with the keypad!

The Dell 1505 is right up your alley, match it with 2GB of ram and you should be singing a happy song for some time.
