I suppose most women would say that losing weight would give them added confidence BUT what they really need is to gain the confidence to like themselves without having to lose weight.

They both kind of go together. I am very self-conscious/insecure because I am slightly overweight.
I would rather lose weight, as I believe that I would gain confidence anyway as a result of the weight loss.

First of all, you've slowed down your metabolism by eating so little. Secondly, the weight you've gained is probably water retention, not fat. I recommend you up your calorie intake to at least 1500, and split that into 5-6 meals to keep your metabolism running. You also need to workout to really start taking off pounds, both cardio and weight training. Trust me, you will loose weight...
