Well if you're willing to take a chance on an unconventional car, you can do what I did - buy an electric car. Would you believe you can buy a freeway-capable electric conversion - a car converted to electricity - for as little as $5000? Try out the link:
*

*
I drive my electric car around for only about a penny per mile in electricity. It's true that with a cheap electric car, you'll have old battery technology. This means recycling the batteries about every 5 years. But the battery pack in my car only costs $850 - and I save more than that by not having to worry about oil changes, filters, fluids, or engine maintenance (electric motors have only one moving part - they really don't need maintenance.)
*
If you can afford it, you might want to look at the latest cutting edge electric car (about $60,000):
*
http://zapworld.com/ZAPWorld.aspx?id=4560
*
The ZAP-X puts out 644 horsepower, 155mph top speed, 350 miles per charge, charges in just 10 minutes, and the battery pack should last nearly 20 years. The car can be pre-ordered right now!

Yes I work for a company that has a fuel re-formulator it helps you save an average of 7-19% on your gas and it lowers your emissions. the company is even sponsoring a car this weekend in the indie 500 car races its bin around for 10 years and has government contracts and is a big company if you want more info go to www.4planetearth.com. it works great I have saved 4 mpg in my 06 mustang. my husband saves about 9 MPH on his Chevy Tahoe. I'm not kidding

Always buy your gas from the station with the lowest price. When the stations jack prices it takes competition a while to get prices down. Consumers who don't shop play into the stations hands.
Driving at a lower speed and coasting to stops will increase your milage.
A good tune-up helps.
I see other good ideas posted here.

Sorry but we can't do anything about that. Start taking public transportation to save on gas during the week or try carpooling with people at work.
