They are synonomous. Just different ways of saying the same thing.

Just like "put that away" or "put that up"

To me it has the same meaning. It could also mean slow a little bit for slow down and slow a lot for slow up.

I think "slow up" is more of a slang phrase, but otherwise they mean the same thing.
