I will soon be a Senior in high school & this summer, I'd like to save up for a laptop. I don't know much about computers in terms of wiring & hard drives, etc., so I need some help picking the right computer for me. I know I'll be spending a lot of time on iTunes listening to music; & I will most definitely be using the Internet for school, email, entertainment, & research. I don't play many PC games on software but I'd like to leave that option open in case I ever find a great game. The last thing I'll need my laptop for other than basic school systems (Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint) is Imaging and Photo Editing. I take lots of pictures & one of my most enjoyable hobbies is editing them. I think at the time I purchase a laptop I'll probably also look into professional photo editing software. I've heard really great things from relatives & friends about the Apple Mac Book computers, but I'm not sure if it's just brand loyalty talking.
Can anyone help me find the right computer?

I've also got a few questions about the differences between a Mac computer and PC...are they just different brands or is it something more?
I know Mac is made by Apple...that much was obvious. :-D
But is PC just a general term for all other computers?

My personal guess is that, you're not going to do anything especially technical, like, programming wise, so a Mac Book should be just fine. They're easy to use, and great for pix and games. Be sure to check your price, though. You *might* find that a PC is more in your range! But if you find that a Mac is about the same, go for Mac.

Mac, will be good. But if you wanna do stuffs with Microsoft Office, try a PC better. I don't know if the have access for Mac. A mac is better, but for college stuffs, a PC may be the right one.

Just go to Apple.com and look for the Macs to see what is good about them.

No Dells, they have bad costumer service.

for about 1500 i could get you a 15" laptop with nvidia 7600 video card (IT is great for gaming, and for graphic intense programs), and an intel core duo cpu 2.0ghz, and a 160gb hard drive. It also has built in MIC and web cam, a/b/g wireless + bluetooth, 2gb ram, 8x dual layer dvd burner, Fingerprint Reader, Integrated 1.3 Megapixel Camera, PowerDVD v5.0 & Nero Express v6.3126, and Windows XP Home.

Just PM me or select this as best answer if you are interested, and i can also custom it for you as well, and it would be brand new.

Thanks, and i hope to hear from you soon!

macs are definintely good for multimedia and storing data. but for easy to use and good compatibility. id stick with a pc. i would suggest dell, since they put good components in their pc's and you can often find better deals with then than other lesser retailers. you can type in "dell coupon codes" in google and different websites will show up with different coupon codes usually good for atleast 3-500 dollars off. find one of those, customize a laptop and apply the coupon. also, dell has an extra $50 off with a certain geforce graphics card on the inspiron series.

as far as specs.. for you id go with a core2 duo 1.8+ghz, atleast a gig of ram, and a decent graphic card to leave the gaming option open. other than that, you dont need to worry about it. you dont have hard to meet needs.

hope this helps!
