When you're really sad and missing someone to not think about it most of the time, but then out of the clear blue you will think about it and will be inconsolable for a while then you think of something else again? It's like grief with ADHD...Except I don't have ADHD.

It is normal, especially if you are trying hard not to think of that person, you are actually putting more energy into blocking thoughts of him/her, and your entire soul is aware of it.

Keeping busy is in mind is always a great way to keep unwanted thoughts at bay, but if you really want the tried and true solution, then go out and find happiness with someone else. I am assuming it is not a family member you are talking about. Even if that is the case, feeling happy in the presence of a new love will always help you heal, forgive, forget and move on. It is less likely to happen if you are alone, because sooner or later you will run into things that will remind you of that person.

Go out meet someone new and give new love a chance, and soon you will be bursting in giggles, instead of dwelling in sadness.

Wish you the best.

you just answered your own question. It's exactly like grief. Grief reminds me of being bi-polar. One min. your fine but the very next your not. Loss is an inevitable part of life, and grief is a natural part of the healing process. What you are going through is perfectly normal. Everyone handles grief diffrently.

That's not ADHD. (Special Ed worker here) Youa re grieving the loss of someone you cared about. WHere is this person? Are they a BF? Relative? You might get some counseling..school counselor maybe? Hugs.

Happens a lot to many people. Sometimes out of the blue i think about my friends that i lost in Iraq. I am glad that i don't have to go back, but sometimes I think that if I had been there with them on a 3rd go round maybe they would be ok. The mind is usually your worse enemy.

Completely normal, thats a consequence of living. Any animal or machine can press through tough stuff and suppress grief, but memories and emotions make us human.

To begin with, define "normal". Then of course there's the reality of:

Just be yourself. Nuff said?

Yeah, it's normal. Don't worry. It's when this doesn't happen is when it's not normal and you should worry.

Hubby will be home soon.
