If I have the physics right....
The fall causes vibrations in the ground and air. When the vibrations come into contact with movable bits, they cause the movable bits to vibrate. The eardrum is the movable bit we live with, so we associate sound with its vibrations primarily.
Now define sound.

if there are no auditory receptors (ears) of any kind, then no, it does not make a sound. It makes wavelengths that can be interpreted as sound, but the wavelengths need ears to interpret it.
