It depends on the individual person. I work as a healthcare assistant, and have seen many other HCA's qualify as nurses. I've also seen nurses get promoted to being a sister.
I think some people do get a power trip for the first few months but tend to settle down afterwards, especially as we all work as a team. But some people don't change at all, especially if they have worked at the bottom, they know what its like. Others can be a total nightmare (i can think of plenty) but they need to be stood up to, and after a while they learn their place and that its not ok to make everyone feel like $h!t.
So it totally depends on the person and their nature.

of corse it does. the only people i think ever stayed the same when given power were the prophets. like jesus the prophet muhammud (sallahualayhewasallam) abraham, etc......... but then again lots of people can change for the better. but i think in the modern world it just corrupts people. they feel they are entitled to dazzle in a life of luxuary. take an example from our united states congress. they get a wiff of power in the air the next minute you know they are taking all expense paid vacations to exoctic places with their whole families all compliments of the united states tax dollars. take a look at the bush administration. sending american soilders to die in iraq, hi jacking oil 23 million dollars an hour pumped out hourly for four years. instead of that money going to the iraqi people or even to the government funds which finace this war the money goes towards bush's oil companies and their posses.

I have power in a few differnt arenas. It can give you a big head but i think it boils down to when given power do you use or abuse it? I think the power that i have i dont use to abuse others with.
You want to know why i dont? Because I think its inborn in me as a person, the fairness, the justness, the considerate nature and two i think that i was taught to be considerate but i think its more inborn in who i am as a person. Im much more accepting and non judgemental of people than the average person.

Yes, but I don't know many people who didn't start that in their childhoods. The people I know who behave like they are out of their minds with domination & started doing so because they were rescued or spoiled by one, both parents, social enablers, but first didn't have any repect for themselves when it came to who they socialized with despite the warnings.
Negative power is an:
Addiction
Habit forming
Anti-social
Anti-spiritual
Immature
It would be a real downer not to be able to humble oneself that's for sure...not to mention it causes others to define that person's behavior as unwanted.
Then there is a whole nasty game of projection where emotional vampires want to make others appear like themselves after they've been bashing their target against their will for some time - social abuse, stalking, harassment. They usually get others involved that end up belittling themselves to the target in the process. In other words - they distinctly point out users/enablers and their job title doesn't matter one bit...child professionals included. I know a man who's mother was taunted by the police because her teen sons had chosen to get into trouble...right in front of these two these men told her it was all because she wasn't working out the home(woman bashing). Needless to say this woman would role over in her grave if she saw what her sons and DILs were up to to-date - it wasn't enough that they committed financial abuse on their dying father. The men have conned, been family wreckers, and social terrorists all their lives...wives are enablers and yes, they were spoiled/rescued by their fathers and passing it down to other generations with assistance from the state. What they don't get is why and the fact that the state helping them do so is still them hanging out with the wrong crowd because what does the state and all it's related get out of it - $$$$$ some of which is also coming from our tax $$$$$.
We are all responsible for what we choose to get involved with and that starts at a very young age.
On the other hand positive leadership skills have a natural power called a gift/talent. These people are usually also gifted spiritually and have aquired common sense and wisdom.

I've seen it happen. Power can be intoxicating and take a person over to feel bigger and better about themselves than they should. Power is a dangerous thing in the wrong hands!

Too much power can turn somone into a different person , but many people stay the same.
Sometimes it is because other people react diferently to them that they appear to change.
