20 years ago you hardly ever saw Canadian geese in the mid and north Atlantic states. Now they're on every patch of green in parks and along highways Anybody know why?

Everyone thinks that every goose and duck is endangered. They feed them and encourage them. Some populations of Canada goose are a nuisance, as you imply. If there is any open water (even artificial, like fountain-ponds at big corporate buildings) and food they will stick around all winter.

When I lived in the Midwest they were hunted (in season). I'm not suggesting that as a solution, but it did keep them from sticking around.

anyways, my two cents worth!

They breed, and there is food available? Just a guess.
