Usually neglect is a pretty good sign -- things have changed, you do not feel special anymore.
People tend to build walls without realizing it. One day, you wake up and a dark stone castle, a dungeon, and a moat filled with 'irreconciliable' alligators separates you, even though you sit across the table from each other.

If he acts disinterested or you catch him in a bunch of lies. Sometimes you can't even tell until you've already lost him. Men are sneaky ones! Sometimes it just boils down to a gut feeling or instinct.

If you are "loosing" your guy, you have untied him. This is very clear.
Loose/loosen = untie, unbind, unmoor
Lose = misplace, no longer possess
