I had my period since I was 12 I'm almost 24. Normally I get it every month with out fail. This year it has skipped twice and I have spotting especially during intercourse. I don't want to go back on the pill because I gain a lot of weight on it. I don't want to go to the doctor cause that's all that they will advise. I don't have any stds and I don't know where else to turn. Help!

Ummm...ok, Do NOT go back to the doctors.

Unfortunately, the medical community IS the only place to go for help. We can offer suggestions and hypotheses, but that's it. We can do nothing more than suppose what might be wrong and there really is NOTHING to be done to moderate your hormones without chemical intervention. So your choices are to live with it or make that trip to the doctor.

If you have gained weight it mess with your periods. I know before I had kids and started gaining weight I had a regular period every month, but I've gained alot of weight since then and I have anywhere for 4 to 7 periods a year and when I do have one its like 3 weeks long. Also stress can cause your periods to mess up also or thinking hard about being pregnant can do it also. If you just came off birth control give your body some time to adjust.

You dont have to go on birth control to have a normal period. My doctor put me on provera and I take the first 10 of the month and it usually makes me a period on day 15. Maybe ask about that. Good luck to ya

I mean you can do nothing...thats pretty much your other option....and you could have something far more wrong with you like cervical cancer or endometriosis... in which case I doubt birth control is gonna be their main concern! If you are that concerned either go to the dr or keep worryin.

As far as birth control, I am on Yaz, super low dose and I havent gained any weight and I have been on it fro 7 months now...I realize everyones different, but I am the type who can look at food and practically gain weight, so maybe you could get on a different kind and it may work better for you.....just a suggestion...take it or don't- whatever!

get grip girl, you keep saying you don't want you don't want, I suggest you decide what you do want. If all your doctor is advising is the pill, you simply need to find another doctor, have you considered a homeopathic doc?
I mean if your weight is more important to you than controlling your cycles and spotting and you aren't gaining weight, seems to me you need to be glad that your priority concern is being met. We can't all have our cake and eat it too.

Maybe you don't know what the doctor is going to say. If it's not a problem, you'll be relieved, but if there's something going on I hope he'll offer you more choices than just the Pill. (What makes you think he's going to tell you to go on the pill?)
