My little man is nearly 8 months old, i was just wondering if anyone knows when you can introduce just normal tape water instead of boiling it all the time?

You need to talk to your pediatrician about the water quality in your area. My pediatrician has never had me boil water for my now 6 month old because the municipal water supply we are on is of high enough quality.

I asked my son's doctor when he was a little baby. He's 8 months now. She told me that as long as it's not well water it should be ok. You just need to make sure you watch for boil advisories.

When I started to switch my son to regular tap water was first I would use mostly boiled water and mix in about 2 oz of tap, then I eventually started mixing it half and half until I was finally giving him a bottle made completely with regular tap water.

He has acid reflux so I didn't want to make it any worse on him in case the regular water upset his tummy.

I'm not sure if what I did with the mixing of the 2 waters really did anything for him or not, but I figure if they mix juice to dilute it why can't I do it with water.

Maybe, I was just plain lucky cause we never boiled water for any of our 6 children, who are healthy adults.
I did however, raise them on Brown rice milk, cereal and made my own "Baby Food" from fresh or frozen vegetables. They didn't have cows milk till about 3yrs old. There mother didn't/couldn't breast feed.
They had a few of the "NORMAL" baby, childhood diseases and sometimes colds. But they never had any medical problems till after they got grown. Not my fault - smile.
As for water, we have always filtered the water twice, once with a tap filter and then with pitcher filter and I still do.

uhhhh, now I feel like a crappy parent. I have never boiled water for my daughter or used specialized bottled water. I use regular old Poland Springs bottled water. I would use my well water, but it hasn't been tested for over a year. She has had no weird heebie jeebie creepy crawlie diseases or illnesses yet. I know what they recommend, but I also know they recommended I didn't eat bologna sandwiches or medium rare steaks while pregnant either. This world seems like it is getting way too paronoid. I cannot protect my child from every little germ or she will never build a strong immune system. These are my thoughts and opinions only, not endorsed by anyone. (heehee)

You might want to check with your local Public Works dept. or your dr.'s office to see what the quality of your local tap water is. In the meantime, the best thing to get is nursery water or bottled water that has been filtered by reverse osmosis. There are early studies out saying that distilled water is not good for you, so try to stick with just filtered water. Even though some people say flouride is bad for you, it is good for a baby who is trying to develop teeth, and until you start brushing their teeth, is an essential part of their daily intake.

In most places, the water is fine to feed anyone. Call your county health dept and ask for the water quality report.
Perhaps your local pediatrician might know of some radiation, lead or something you should know about.
BTW, it is ok for a kid to eat dirt, and dog food, and lots of other weird stuff. (in moderation, of course) Builds character.
Happy baby.

employing a clear out on your faucet is merely as good as boiled water. you opt to boil or clear out it to do away with environmental pollution that are contemporary in faucet water (nevertheless some cities have "cleanser" water than others). everyday faucet can contain a lot of yucky junk consisting of flouride- which isn't even scientific grade, yet more advantageous via a sewage scientific care.

I was told at my son's 6 month check up to stop sterilizing his water. You may want to check with you doctor before you do so. Also you may want to check with your local water company to see if there is Floride added to the water. Babies need so much Floride.
