Where do you live?

In Chicago, considered the birthplace of house music, it is still appreciated and played at almost all parties. There is even a couple of house picnics in the summertime so that is a myth, Black people have always been and still are into house music, at least in Chicago. I can't speak on other cities.

And I don't have a problem with other ethnicities enjoying the music as well. Music is universal, not limited to only the group that started it. The more enjoy house music the better, to me anyway.

edited to add:
Well you must come to Chi town sometime, especially in the summer. You would LOVE the house picnics that can go into the wee hours of the morning:)

Cuz everyones into HipHop , I think majority of people want to listen to somethin a little more harder . Like when Hip House came out in the late 80's or Ghetto House in the early 90's . People where lookin for something more hardcore.Personally thats all I really listen to is House(80's and early 90's ) , it takes me away from all that negativity . I see that shyt when I walk out my front door , I dont want to listen to some Hip Hop artist rhymin about it .Tho the House scene in Chicago aint what it used to be , its still going strong.Theres clubs and people all over the city still playing it ,its just that the newer tracks today dont compare to the tracks from the 80's to the late 90's.Shyt I hear Bad Boy Bill getting $30,000 for a one night gig , playing House music at clubs.

A&R execs have this habit of cruising in and taking over a genre of music once it's achieved a strong popularity. The originators know what it should sound like and don't bother with the A&R version.

House has been around long enough, I'd be gobsmacked if that hadn't happened by now.

Popularity in certain movements/genres in music come and go with certain demographics. Rock and roll has its African roots but was mainstreamed to a White audience. Rap for a long time was popular among Black and Hispanic youth, but now there are also more Whites who enjoy this genre of music. In the end, music is not limited to racial/ethnic groups. It should be enjoyed by everybody. '

Western music and instruments has spread all over the world. This is a piece by Japanese composer Joe Hisaishi (he's the one playing the piano), which combines Eastern and Western influences.

I live in MPLS/St Paul. There are lots of people from Chicago. It is still pretty big here.

Not faulting you, but people seem to forget that black people are very diverse and always have been pioneers in American and World music. Typically, we start something, master it and move on.

Its kind of like Rock n Roll. We started it -Ike Turner - mastered it -Hendrix - , and moved on R&B, Rap, Hip-Hop, House.

Hold the phone!! You have a house fan right here!
:-D
I will blast that in my car in a heartbeat. It's on my MP3 player when I go to the gym too.

But to answer you question, I don't know why more of us are not into it. We should be....it is helluva lot better than the sh!t I see on BET all the time.

It kind of crosses racial borders (most music does). Black people might not like the way whitey has taken all of their funky beats and rhythms and mixed it together.

Most clubs I have been to have a pretty even mix of blacks/whites/others - and they are all dancing their azzes off to some good house/techno/electronica/dub/funk.
