Every car has a unique personality. By that I mean it's individual basket of initial problems.
Regular service intervals are a must (oil changes).
In my opinion, today's cars all need disc and drum brake service form 30,000 - 40,000 miles do to the aggressive material the pads are made of. Disc brake pads slider pin service and top quality rotors are a must.
The second item seems to be tires. It's unfortunate that the new car buying costumer has no option on tire selection when ordering a new car today.

There is no easy answer to this. Every brand/model of car has its own problems, and users treat their cars differently.

Pretty big topic. I can say the number one reason for breakdown is overheating. Mostly due to a seized thermostat or broken hose.
