Deion Sanders was too overrated --- too flashy, too much of a ball hog.
Darrell Green was faster, could tackle and had better football skills.

There is no doubt on this one, Deion Sanders. Deion Sanders was a game changing CB, you do not have many of these players at this position. Darrell Green will be a Hall of Famer, but Deion basically revolutionized the shut down corner. Yes he was flashy, and talked too much, but you can not doubt this man's skills. I actually think that he was the original "playmaker".

Everyone is making good points here but it comes down to this...
Deion is the best cover corner ever. If you want somebody locked down, the field cut in half, and you want to let your corners play man to man. Deion is the best ever. They didn't pay him to tackle. oh and when he got a pick... he took it to the house. He could also return kicks and punts.
Darrell Green was a good cover corner, but he was also tough and could play the cover two run support position. He was a much better teammate than Sanders, and was a consummate pro. He kept his mouth shut and played football. You gotta love that. He wasn't the big play threat that Deion was or the intimidating presence. They wouldn't even look at the guy Deion was covering at times.
If you want someone to have for a long time and do a great job, then you'd take Green. If you want to win now, take Deion.
Personally, I'd take Deion, and let the Safety's play 6 yards off and do the tackling.

I hafta go with Darrell Green, and everyone is right, Deion Sanders relied souly on speed. He was very fast and he could catch. But Darrell Green was an all around shutdown corner. They didn't like throwing to Deion's side because they knew he could outrun most of the competition, they didn't like throwing to Darrell Green's side because they knew a turnover was coming, by forced fumble, or popup, and or just a pick. Deion had talent and speed, Darrell had it all.

Peion Sanders doesn't even deserve to wash Darrell Green's jock strap. Darrell Green was a COMPLETE CORNERBACK. Only one other cornerback that I can think of that even comes close to a complete cornerback that I've seen in my lifetime is Champ Bailey. Green got INT's, covered exceptionally well, was the fastest man in football for two decades and was a great tackler and run supporter. Peion was exceptionally fast but relied too much on speed. His speed covered up the fact that his man coverage skills weren't all that great. He often fell down on the ground and swatted at his opponents ankles. What was he doing you ask? HE WAS TACKLING! To summarize, Darrell Green was a cornerback playing cornerback. Peion Sanders was a punt returner/wide receiver playing cornerback.

DARRELL GREEN
Just because he did not bang on his chest every time he did his job does not make him not as good as Deion.
Do you know how sore i would be if i acted like Deion?
Deion might have been prime time but Darrell was all the time
Deion was 6'1 Darrell was 5'9
Darrell won the NFL fastest man 4 times and ran
40 yards in 4.2 seconds at the age of 40
The whole time never banging on his chest

Green!
Darrel Green could hit. Deion could close.
They could both return. Deion shut down one side of the field- while Green scrapped and shut down the other teams best receiver.
But how do you measure class?
Go with Daryl Green! Classiest guy to ever play in the NFL. And he was around forever, playing playoff football at Sander's age right now.

Darrell Green. Deion was a great cover corner, good returner, HORRIBLE tackler. Darrell Green was often the fastest man on the field, and actually knew how to tackle. I would take Darrell Green over primetime any day.

Deion, but just barely....
Darrell was a better, more rounded player (and he actually liked to tackle - Deion shied away from it)... but.... teams would still throw his way and make him work. There's a lot to be said for a player that has game plans built around his presence on the field.

I would say Darrell Green was the better overall CB. Deion was a better cover CB, but was afraid to tackle. He would just lay down in front of the ball carrier and hope he tripped over him.
