The best place for this kind of information is the Death Penalty Information Center. You should also take a look at the numbers of executions by state compared with the homicide rates in the states. You will see that homicide rates are higher in states and regions with the death penalty than in states without it.

Highest number? Oftentimes it's Texas. But texas also has a lot of convictions that are reversed on appeal or through habeas because of procedural defects (see the recent Supreme Court opinions). One of the "deadliest" states is Virginia, where, if you get convicted and sentenced to death, you have the greatest risk of being executed very quickly.

Oh that's easy. Texas. It has been like this for quite some time. You ever heard that saying don't mess with Texas? Well that goes for more than just littering. The way the law works there is to shoot first then ask questions. I'm not bagging on Texas because I was born and raised there for 16 years, I have family there ad it is considered home. But it's the truth.

I am not for sure that it is Texas, but there are alot of criminals that are excuted in Texas. Let first defend my state when I say, its not like the movies. They don't have trials in courthouses without A/C and *** backward judges, yes these judges are tough, but justice -- is usually served with the exception of the whole Andrea Yates thing and someone needs to drown her, However when a criminal is sentenced to death row, they are not taken outback and shot, no they sit on death row for 10 to 20 years and consume valiable tax dollars. We make excute a lot of criminals - but most of them its been a long time comming.
