It's been "Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a seasame seed bun" for so long! This hamburger put McDonald's on the map and made them the number one hamburger chain for many years..... you don't mess with success.

Because the creator of the Big Mac did not put them on. Who knows why. Personally think tomatoes don't taste good with our sauce.

Tomatoes slow down the Fast Food process and are very hard keep consistent. McDonald's is about duplication so we no exactly what you are going to get every time you walk into one. I.E. The Big Mac Combo is #1 in New York, Paris and Tokyo...and it tastes the same.

Try asking them to add a tomato. Also always special order when at a fast food place so you don't get food that has been sitting there for a while.

It can be added by customers request, but generally it isnt on there because of cost issues. People would be paying another 30 cents for a burger that is already expensive too begin with.
