Being able to put a man on the moon represented a massive mobilisation of resources, manpower and finances. It was an achievement of the impossible and made a big statement to the rest of the world. We're rich, brave, smart, wealthy and we did it first. To an extent it was sabre rattling without the machine of war. Russia was also in the space race and equally eager to display it's ability and prowess. It's the same in the animal kingdom when males display for territory, try and make themselves look the biggest and toughest without having to fight. During the Cold War the only other thing that would have made such a statement would have been launching the bombs = M.A.D. Not clever.
As such I can understand that the pressure and desire to make such a statement would mean faking it authentically would send the same message without the phenominal investment and huge risk.
So, I understand WHY they would fake it, but I don't think they did.

Why do soo many idiots think we didn't go to the moon. GROW UP AMERICA. Anyone who was alive during the moon landings...and any half sensible people afterward know we went. It wasn't faked, it's like saying that The Wright brothers flight was a fake also..no of course not, we fly aircraft today...ok, what does this have to do with space..well..we launch shuttles, send probes to other planets, and above all hear the story from astronauts like Neil Armstrong himself. Tell him the moon landing was a fake and see how that flies.

Moral--Don't listen to every idea that floats around american society, much less on proposed by the flat earth people!

You may want to pick a REAL subject for your report. Conspiracy theories just make the proponents look stupid. There are so many issues that are real that need to be exposed... for instance: Why are we still using fossil fuels when the technology to use alternative energy sources is available? Why is George W. Bush our president? What happened to all the money that was "lost" when Enron went under?

Going to the moon was expensive. Plus the conspiracy theorists believe that the radiation in outer space would've killed the astronauts.

Each Apollo mission that landed on the moon left behind a corner cube retro-reflector array.

God, what has happened to intelligence in this country.Of course we went. The hoax theory was started by the flat earth society to dispel the photo's of the round earth. If you believe it was a hoax, you'd better join. Also, why would we spend 14 years, 28 billion dollars and hire 250,000 people to make a movie ??
