Blue jeans may be considered business casual by certain companies but you should not wear them to a job interview. Dress in professional attire then once hired find out about the dress code. Often Fridays are business casual day. However there is a rule about always dressing for the next position you want to promote into so I wouldn't dress casual every day even if allowed.

For me, I would wear a nice button down shirt and slacks with a belt that matches my dress shoes. I have a nice setup for this that fits me perfectly. I think the important thing to remember is not so much what you are wearing but how you feel when you wear it. If you for instance wear a suit because you want to give the impression that you are more professional, and that suit makes you feel uncomfortable and you are fidgeting, messing with your neck collar like you have some kind of tick, then what good did that suit do you? You want something that makes you feel powerful while wearing it. You want, no scratch that, you NEED to feel confident in this job interview in order for you to have a chance. This might mean going out and getting something new and fresh. Make sure you get something that fits properly as this will make you feel better because that shirt isn't hanging off your body. Take your wife with you and if you don't have one of those, go to a nicer store that has some young hip girls working there that can help you find a shirt. Don't go to walmart and be a cheap ***. You don't have to spend much either. The important thing is you get someone to help you find something that looks great and fits perfectly. Also, make sure your hair is not a mess. Shave the night before or morning of. Remember, this is more about feeling confident than wearing the "right" clothes. Interviews are all about getting the interviewer to like you. So smile and laugh at their jokes. I once had an interview where the guy talked the whole time about himself. It was the easiest interview of my life. At the end he asked me when can I start lol. Build a rapport with people you meet, shake firmly and try and remember the important peoples names so you can call back to follow up. Get business cards. Don't sweat excessively either. Ok man you got this! Remember, you are the biggest bad *** A&P that walks the face of the earth, the company would be stupid NOT to hire you!

I would never wear blue jeans to a job interview unless the job was going to be on a farm or something. You want to show them that you are serious about getting the job and blue jeans just don't really say that. I would go with a nice pair of black or tan slacks. If I was interviewing someone, even for a minimum wage job, I would overlook someone with jeans.

In some companies, jeans are considered business casual. In my job I can wear them whenever I like. But, under NO circumstances, should you ever consider wearing them to a job interview.

No way. A job interview regardless of what position is extremely important. It's giving them a chance to see who you are, and catching their eye right away gives them a good first impression. Save the jeans for casual Friday at work. Wear a powersuit for the interview; show them you're the best one for the job.

Hmm....most likely NOT. Wait until you get the job to wear jeans. And then make sure they are not torn, have worn spots..you know...almost like new.
For the interview, pants like dockers would be appropriate.
If it comes down to you and another applicant, you may be passed over since your appearance conveyed you didn't really care about making an impression. Given that your skills/experience are equal, the employer will likely hire the person who seems to want the job most. And that can be as simple as taking the time/effort to look professional.

sort of. i would never wear them to an interview. However, in my line of work in the wine industry in napa valley, california, they are considered perfectly fine for every day business casual. I work with mostly winery people and they all wear jeans to work. So I try to dress a notch up from that. Though I usually only wear them at work if I am not dealing with customers.

They are no business casual, but simply casual

No jeans to interviews unless it's like a retail place. Better to dress nicely than be called out bec you are jeans on. You never know what the dress code is going to be there. After you scope it out you might be able to get away with jeans.
