I am looking for the most efficient and ergonomic method for removing valve seats. Lots of them. This is for a mass production environment. I have an "apparatus" that is currently being used, but I think it was originally a medeival torture device. Yes, it's that bad. If anybody can help me out or point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated!!!

Use an arc welder to lay a bead around the inside circumference of the seat. When it cools the seat will shrink and almost fall out.

I have welded on them and they should shrink . I have cut them out (castiron seats not much problem )
I have seen them pulled ,that is a tough way to do it and sometimes cracks the head.
Why would you want to remove hardseats unless badly worn ?

dry ice is the least laborious chill tap w/sharp cold chisel. will usually pop right out or fracture...w/zero damage to head
