This is actually extremely common. A lot of people eat when they're bored, depressed, etc...

When you get bored, don't think about food. Because I know that food is the first thing that comes to your mind.
Instead, try doing something that you like.
For example: If you like drawing... start to draw as soon as you feel like you're getting bored. This way, your mind will be on something else.

It's ok to eat a little when you're bored. But if you MUST eat, try to eat something healthy. And try not to eat so much in one amount. If you eat healthy, then you don't have a problem and everything is fine.
Or maybe try an alternative...
Like chewing gum. That helps a lot of people. Or suck on a lollypop untill it's the apropriate time to eat.

There are lots of good meals out there that taste good, and are good for you.
Like I said, when you feel like you're getting bored, just get out there and do something that will get your mind off of food.

There is a pill out there that you can take that can control your hunger for a few hours. This might work. But you have to consult your doctor about if first to make sure that it's ok for you.

Good luck.

Im a bit of a boredom snacker myself - especially in front of the TV. I think the trick is to keep yourself busy and occupied, when you're being active you dont feel so much like eating at all. Also make sure you eat meals at the proper times and eat so that you're content. A nice trick that helps me is if Im going to be sitting around for a few hours I'll brush my teeth and use mouthwash and it'll make your mouth feel clean and fresh and for some reason you dont want to snack afterwards because nothing tastes good with the minty toothpastey feeling - so I'll keep doing that throughout the day and it works pretty well.

I increased my water to about 7 or 8 glasses a day and noticed that I wasn't as hungry as before, especially during that time between lunch and dinner. If just plain water doesn't satisfy, put a slice of lemon or lime in it.

But if you must snack, eat some fruits or veggies, especially crunchy ones that take more effort like apples, carrots, celery, nuts and my favorite raisins, they are just like candy.

Another thing that helps is to get a messy hobby like gardening, pottery making, painting- something that you have to clean up after. I personally like to sketch with charcoals which is super messy!

Do something to stay busy so you don't have time to sit and snack. Watching tv is the worst becuase you'll just want to eat while you watch. Go run errands, play outside, or even just go sit outside and talk on the phone or something. Anything to get your mind off food and away from the kitchen. Hope this helps!

I do the same thing sometimes.

I find it helps if I take myself out of situations where food is just lying around. I stopped keeping snacks at my desk at work. I always have a glass of water at my desk.

But most of all, I check myself out in the mirror A LOT. It reminds me that all those extra little things I eat add up... on my BUTT!

Have some self control. Go to webmd.com for tips on staying healthy and eating healthy. If you must snack, try snacking on fruits or veggies: like a fruit salad with yogurt for dipping, or carrots and celery dipped in ranch. And drink more water- that will fill you up and maybe stop some of your cravings.

I do the same thing. Try to drink a glass of water and crunch on the ice, or brush your teeth because anything you eat after will taste like crap. Also chewing gum helps and I buy those teeny tiny 100 calorie packs, it really helps me.

Don't worry, I do the same thing! I bet loads of other people do too. I think the best thing to do would be to watch the little things that you buy. Instead of potato chips and candy, by carrot stick or wheat crackers, popcorn is good too.

Good Luck!

instead of snacking all day eat three big meals. one in the morning, afternoon, and night. also try to eat a lot of carbohydrates and fiber which makes you feel full. drink plenty of water or even fruit juice. try vitamin water by glaciue. it has tons of vitamins that are good for you and help you feel full.

when you get a craving when you're bored, get up and do something outside, or just away from food. Go for a walk, for example.
