Gay curriculum is not about teaching mere "tolerance." It is more than teaching that some people are gay/les and that such people claim they cannot help it.
Do a websearch on the fistgate scandal and you will see that more than "tolerance" is at stake here. The sex education classes have become graphic, with real or simulated sex being performed in front of the students. They are taught things like how to fist one another, the different types of oral sex, etc. In a smuggled recording, one of the educators or adult guests said that homosexuality was too purified these days that they needed to put sex back into the word. The class even endorsed tongue rings for the purpose of enhancing certain types of sex. They even went on to talk about "glory holes," a type of vandalism done in male restrooms for sexual reasons. The group that is sponsoring this stuff is spreading all over the US. It isn't just in Massachusetts anymore.
The biggest problem is the failure to allow students to opt out of these programs no matter how obscene, objectional, or graphic they are. The Constitution says that the government shall make no laws concerning the establishment of a religion. If your religion forbids such practices and forbids learning about them, and the government-run schools are forcing this material on students, then they are saying that some religions (or none at all) are good and some are bad. That is illegal according to the Constitution.

To Fundamentalists, any curriculum that does not either ignore the existence of gays, acknowledge but condemn it, or distort what it means to be gay into some horrible, disease-ridden existence in an effort to scare kids, or one in which positive gay role models are presented, qualifies as a "gay curriculum. For example, a sex ed class that actually addresses issues of concern to gay students in the class without condemnation and disgust.
In terms of a "gay curriculum" at the college level, there are classes that specifically deal with gay rights and literature in- as there are for nearly every other religious, cultural, and social group, as a means of learning in an affirming way of the cultural and political influences- good and bad- that a particular group has had on our society.

What exactly is a "hetrosexual curriculam." I haven't once heard of any type of course that taught hetrosexualism.
And with as many HETRO PHOBIC gays on this forum that I have seen, no one needs to be pointing the finger at anyone about being "homophobic" that word is the most misused, nonsensical word, anyone has ever come up with..Anyone that doesn't share your views and or inclinations is seen as "homophobic", gimme an XTRA LARGE break.
And that's real.

I give up...I have been Gay for about 40 years, and have yet to find an agenda or curriculum in the community, and I have been at the center of the community in my life time. I DO know about the Fundy's curriculum and agenda, but as far as a Gay agenda, that one leaves me baffled. On the other hand, it is a very good idea...I think we should begin to give what we get...in kind, perhaps 3 fold. And I am not kidding one bit. In my life, sadly, the only society changes that happen are through fear and violence. Can you imagine 35 million gays becoming violent and aggressive? The US would collapse...and then be rebuilt...not entirely a bad idea if you ask me. Beatings should be repaid with beatings, burning, and if it comes to it, guns. I know there are those who find me abhorant when I say these things. But IF you all prefer to be the butt of jokes, the target of rednecks who torture and beat you into a pulp while standing and taking it, be my guest. As for me, I fight back..and have decked more than one homophobe in my past. I found it amazing how quickly their attitudes towards me changed..and how quickly it came about. I, for one, do not want to rely on the kindness of strangers to get through life. I have found strangers to be not so kind. IN fact, they run at the first sign of trouble. Good luck

I would think it would be certain lessons taught with a gay perspective as in gay icons in history and gay history in general... I don't know that I would suggest teaching it in public schools but I am pretty sure its a class in gay high school and most colleges as gay/lesbian studies.. where in we get to hear about Oscar Wilde and homer and other such important people in history and instead of just knowing them its regarding their works with the knowledge that they were gay and seeing what references one can take from it... but that's just my opinion

"Gay curriculum" is what we all learn the hard way when life beats the crap out of you. Hopefully you will not be jaded in the end, and hopefully have a sense of humor through it all.

I answered that question too. I don't think that we should have a class for it (curriculum) but I do believe that schools should educate kids about homosexuality. Just like how schools educate kids about people of other backgrounds. They need to know that gay/bi people aren't any different than heterosexual people. They should know the facts about gay parenting and homosexuality in general...not the lies! I think just like racism towards others...teaching kids about homosexuals will lower the rate of hate towards people that are different from them. Also, it will open up their minds to learning about people of different backgrounds.

It seems like acknowledging the fact that there are homosexuals in the world qualifies to some. I can just hear the wailing and gnashing of teeth if they were to mention the fact that other people don't believe in Jesus and they aren't bad people.....
I find it funny as can be listening to them equating mentioning the fact that homosexuals exist right up there with giving them a "how to" class on homosexual sexual activities. (and they wonder why we call them homophobes)

The so-called gay curriculum is a work of fiction stemming from the twisted, hipocritical and DILLUSIONAL minds of homophobic heteros. There is no gay curriculum, no gay agenda, nothing. My only agenda is to live my life peacefully without having to hear the nosey mouths of people who shouldn't have ANYTHING to say about it.
