The French are actually smarter than we thought. They realized that liberals are ruining America and don't want that to happen to them!
The new President actually wants it's citizens to WORK for their money...a most intriguing concept.

They lost because unemployment hovers around 15% and nobody under 30 can get a job.
The cause of the problem is in France's labor laws. Not only is it illegal to voluntarily contract below a certain arbitrary rate (as it is in the US), it is also illegal to fire an employee without cause (think about how hard it is for the US government to fire the bureaucracy, even the most incompetent bureaucrats), and it is illegal to work more than 35 hours in a week. Then you add up all the regulations that the left loves so much and it becomes almost impossible to do business in France (as if it isn't hard enough in America to begin with).
The French Socialist Party lost because Socialism failed, just as it has done everywhere it has been tried (yes, Socialism will one day fail here in the US when the Dollar Bubble bursts and the Socialist Federal Reserve gets dumped for the Capitalist Gold Standard).

Anything carried to an extreme is doomed to failure, even moderate capitalist-liberalism. France is suffering with high unemployment, social unrest, and a stagnant GDP - while costs for entitlement programs such as retirement benefits and educational funding skyrocket.
France needs to create some economic opportunity for the younger generation if it ever hopes to pay the bills of the retiring generation. Sometimes, you need a conservative economic policy to be able to afford liberal idealism.

because france has decided to change it's name to 'little texas.'
they will all be wearing cowboy hats and driving suburbans with shotgun racks across the back within a matter of months.
they will stop making wine and champagne and swith to lucky star beer production.
they will switch their position on iraq and are going to send 1,000,000 troops over to help out.
i bet all of this sounds pretty silly doesn't it - but don't tell the radical cons that...

It failed when it was practiced there for years. Socialism has failed and liberals have a Socialist agenda. People got tired of paying.
