I think you should get it for him. There are many games that are educational you can get for it as well as the fun ones. It will also improve his hand/eye coordination. My four year old plays better than I do. I would definitely monitor his time on it though, because it should never replace physical activity. Let him earn extra time on it with good behavior and/or chores.

To the one above...that's because his parent allowed him to do that. The parent should always be in control. I allow all four of my children to play our X-Box, but we have a 1-hour 3x limit. That means that they can only play for one hour at a time and only three times per week (never twice in the same day). This is also only allowed if all homework and chores are done.

Buy him a bicycle and tell him to go play outside. Things like PSP are why America's kids are fatter than ever.

He's not too small, but if you get him the player make sure to get him a game or two to go with it...and make sure he has a case to carry it in. Those things are hella expensive and break easily if he drops it.

yeah he's still too small for that. my aunt let my cousin start playing video games at 3 years old. no lie. hes now 11 and has no interest whatsoever in school. all he wants to do is play video games. his grades are really bad. im not saying that will happen to your son, but im just saying, video games are addictive.
