New battery, new alternator (14 to 15 volts), new belt with good tension and good connections to battery. After jump starting the battery the dash will go out after about five minutes. the car will not stay running with battery disconnected?

Why are you disconnecting the battery?
That's not good for the computer and all the other electronics.

Sounds like a wire harness problem, dash lights going out. I think there may be a short somewhere. Its possible the new alternator is bad. Sometimes you can get a bad one from the factory. Is their a new stereo that may need to have a battery boaster or a sepparate fuse. Check fuses and wire harness.
