Yes I think you mean Scholar's Mate, too. It involves White bamboozling Black into not realising that his f7 square is doubly attacked by a bishop on c4 and a queen on h5 and when Black doesn't wake up to the threat in time, White plays 4. Qxf7++ checkmate. e.g,. the game might go.

1. e4 e5
2. Qh5 Nc6 (defending the e-pawn)
3. Bc4 Nf6?? (attacking the queen but oblivious to the threat)
4. Qxf7++

When you have seen it happen to you, you ought to learn something from this and not let it happen again.

In fact Qh5 is a really bad move and deserves to bve punished. People play it because it catches beginners out, but anyone who knows what they are doing can chase the queen away and make the Qh5 player regret he wasted so much time in the opening, while Black develops his pieces sensibly.

Better for Black is
1.e4 e5
2. Qh5 Nc6
3. Bc4 g6! (safe once e4 is defended, fails to Qxe4+ winning the rook if played on move 2)
4. Qf3 (hoping for a second bite of the cherry)
4. .... Nf6
5. g4? (another poor move, hoping for g5 and the knight moving away to allow the checkmate on f7)
5. ... Nd4 (attacking the queen and driving it off the f-file

White is embarrassed to find his only good move is the humiliating retreat 6. Qd1. 6. Qe3 would lose the queen to a fork by 6. ... Nxc2+ of course and 6. Qb3 to attack f7 again would lose the queen at once)

6. Qd1 d6 (threatens B x g4) (some might prefer ... Nxe4 followed by ... d5 driving the bishop away)
7. c3 (hoping to drive the knight away and return to f3)
7. ... Ne6! (this prevents g5 and blocks the bishop's attack on f7)

Black can now play ... Bg7 or ... Be7 and castle at his leisure and Black has a good position, mainly because White spent three moves which ended up in the queen returning to its original square. A complete waste of time.

So Black needs to know how to defend against Scholar's Mate and White needs to learn not to try for it, as a cheap trick to catch beginners out, as there is more to the game than trickery!

Of course a good way to defeat the habitual Qh5 player is for Black to play the French Defence 1, e4 e6 whereafter the c4 bishop has no way through to f7, and this tends to leave would-be Scholars Maters somewhat flummoxed and perplexed as to why their Master Plan won't work now!

You would be surprised as to how many of them still play 2 Qh5 though, even though it is pointless and can be instantly repulsed by ... Nf6

The USCF had a magazine for youth chess called School Mates.

Otherwise the first answerer is correct on scholars mate.
