Seeing as how the statue was originally copper and has oxidized over the years since given to us by the french. I just thought It would b great to be able to see the statue win all it glory.

Lee Iaccoca was asked by President Reagan to raise funds to restore the Statue of Liberty. The amount raised is over $500,000,000 and counting. A major restoration was done and the unveiling of it happened July 4, 1986. This was a result of the work done by Iococca.

It may be ready for another program, I don't know. But that is when the last one happened.

You would not want to polish the statue. The Green coating protects the metal Repeated polishings would just erode the staue. Also, as a pratical matter, I doubt you could polish it so quickly that the whole thing would look copper colored at once anyway.
