What's not to get?? The 13th Amendment to tThe Consitution of The United States of America abolished slavery.

Amendment XIII
Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.


Section 2. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

At the obvious level, it means there can be no slavery, but it is slightly more profound than that. For example, imagine your employer makes you sign a non-competition clause that would prohibit you from ever working anywhere else again. It is overly broad, denying you the ability to quit and thereby making you a slave. Such a clause is unconstitutional. Likewise, if you are prisoner, you have no rights.

Except in prisons, for convicted persons.
