There arent any sites on it but come on. Have you ever spanked a dog and seen them roll on their back? Have you ever pissed one off and seen them growl and possibly try to bite you? Have you ever given a dog a treat and seen them bounce around, happy to get it?! Seriously now....

It very much depends on the animal, not all animals have feelings, higher vertebrates almost certainly do however if you have a pet spider no it will not. It is very much species dependent.

Despite what Shebas mom says sponges (they are animals) don't even have a brain so how can they feel, they have no nerve system either. Many other invertebrates do not have a usable brain (such as crabs and lobsters) and the brain they do have they can live with out.
She should also not that animals farmed for food are not native to any where and there survival is dependent on our predation (which is normal as we are designed to eat meat and eating meat is one of the main reasons for brain development, hence cats are far more intelligent than sheep).

In regards to the post below, not all animals with a nervous system are capable of feeling as many of these systems are far to unsophisticated.

Most creatures that are kept as pets have high intelligence and are therefore capable of feelings similar to a person. Any creature with a nervous system is capable of feeling. Higher animal forms such as mammals definitely experience sensation and emotion, while lower forms like insects appear limited to sensation. Social insects demonstrate advanced learning capability which was previously thought impossible.

It seems they do have feelings. I remember once when a cat overreacted and bit me. I was almost ready to rare back and pop her when I saw what I took to be a guilty and/or remorseful look on her face. I couldn't hit her.

I know that elephants aren't pets but there has been documentation of elephants expressing emotion. So, if elephants have feelings then so do pets. Apparently, you have never had pets.
