I would only advise going unprotected for the following two reasons:
1.) you are committed to each other/completely monogamous & have been tested w/ the results coming out negative of STDs.
2.) you take the pill the exact same time EVERY SINGLE DAY.....no missing!!! It is most effective that way!!
As for the missing period, that may be because your body is getting used to it & will be thrown off schedule for a little while. I was told I'd be protected after a week of being on it but to be on the safe side I waited a month until my body was at least somewhat used to it & on a schedule. I've been on the pill the past 3 1/2 years & so far, no children because I was strict about the two reasons I gave above. BUT then again, I also use condoms 90% of the time too.

Starting birth control pills can cause several side effects and bring up a lot of different questions. To be the safest you can be in regards to preventing pregnancy, ALWAYS use another form of birth control such as a condom for the first complete pack of pills. You should always use a condom with the pill anyway as it does not protect from STDs or HIV.
Birth control can also affect your period in many ways. It is not uncommon to have spotting during the first three months of being on the pill. Periods can become extremely light or nonexsistant. In fact, that is one of the biggest reasons other than pregnancy prevention, that people start the pill. It also helps to lessen cramps.
Remember that no birth control is 100% effective except abstinence. The pill is 95% when used correctly. Meaning, take the pill at the same time every day and use a backup method when you miss a pill or take an antibiotic.

When it comes to the pill, it depends on a few things before you consider having unprotected sex. One, how long you've been on it. Two, what kind. and Three, if you missed your period on the first month of just staring the pill, I'm not sure how common that is, I'd ask your gyno about that. But just when it comes to unprotected sex you have alot of other things to think about, mainly STD's and the chance of getting pregnant. I don't know how old you are or how long you've been with your bf, but those are some things to take into consideration and if he's really worth it. Good luck on that, sorry if I didn't help much.

Well, you wouldn't be unprotected because you are on the pill. If you mean another form of protection, use a condom for 2-3 weeks.
It may take a few pill packs to get on track with your cycle and get you into a routine, so missing that period could be normal.

Obviously you should always use a condom just to protect yourself from STD's, even if you are on birth control. Generally it takes two months for the birth control to be fully effective, assuming you are using the pill or patch. It should tell you in the pamphlet doodad that comes with your prescription, and you can also call the doctor to ask just to be certain, since different types of birth control have different answers to this. :)

well missing your first period is not abnormal. some woman miss their first couple after about a month it is o.k. to have unprotected sex. but it is not 100% so i would use another method as well. and if you haven't had your period after a couple of months i would take a test or if you get any other signs of being pregnant
