George W. Bush tells the American people that "the surest way to avoid attacks on our own people is to engage the enemy where he lives and plans." However, the plain fact is that in the decade before the invasion and occupation of Iraq by the American military, Iraqis were responsible for precisely zero killings of Americans. Now, since the beginning of Bush's war in Iraq, Iraqis have killed thousands of Americans. Is this what Bush calls "the surest way to avoid attacks on our own people?" Now, for people outside the Bush White House, thousand is a bigger amount than zero. Apparently, Bush himself disagrees with that calculation. Dangerous fuzzy math?

The Bush Administration claims that America is safer by engaging their enemies so he or they could justify their lust and greed of power. Everybody knows that by violating international treaties and oppressing other nations including messing with their systems, Bush just creates more enemies for the US to handle. But Republicans have been known all throughout history to be violent, war freaks and abusive. They also make money out of war. So bush uses the claims of making America safer to hide their real intentions and justify their unjust acts.

Nazi Germany was responsible for zero attacks on American soil in WWII, Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, and we lost thousands upon thousands of Americans in Europe.

While Sadam wasn't behind 9-11, a vast majority of Republicans and Democrats agreed that he was a threat to us for many reasons, that is why there was strong bi-partisan support to start "Bush's" war.
A lot of potential terrorist plots and cells within the US have been dismantled thanks to agressive action using the Patriot Act.
The Middle East is a festering wound from which is spawned radical Islamic Jihad, this has been the case for decades. Sadam violated numerous UN sanctions, fired on US and allied aircraft patroling the no-fly zone, paid money to suicide bombers families, attempted to assasinate former President Bush, had WMDs which he was supposed to prove that he destroyed, but never did, wouldn't allow UN inspectors to gain access to suspected areas and was believed by most of the world to be seeking nuclear weapons.

in theory he's right. If we went after their training camps, strived for total energy Independence to cut off their oil funding and targeted their leaders instead of playing babysitter in Iraq then we would be safer.
It should be noted that, officially, there have been no attacks on America since 9/11. This should not be surprising considering that any attack would demonstrate his rhetoric to be false. Makes me wonder if thwarted attacks were Al Qaeda related but "revised" for public viewing.

fuzzy math? how about fuzzy gray matter...you see michelle, we are not at war with 'iraq' and we never have been. we are at war with islamofascists who we are now kicking the crap out of IN iraq...do you see the difference yet? no? then i will continue...you may remember michelle, a man named saddam hussein who way back in the year 1991 (i'm guessing maybe you were not yet born then), who invaded his neighbor kuwait and the united states came to the rescue as we are wont to do, saved that country and in the process, put the hammer down on this madman in the form of a cease fire agreement worked out by the u.n. and you may also remember michelle, that hussein thumbed his nose at it and us and the u.n. for twelve years breaking resolution after resolution - seventeen in all - before intelligence reports from many agencies both in and out of the u.s. reported that he was in the process of stockpiling WMD of all kinds including nuclear desires. these agencies further showed his all consuming wish to destroy the united states, foment terror around the world, and his involvement with terror groups in general and some hazy but direct ties to osama bin laden and al-qaeda. do those names ring any of your bells michelle? so now that we have dispatched this maniac, are fighting jihadi's on foreign soil instead of our own, and have not been attacked since 9/11, i'd say president bush's assertion that his administration is doing everything it can to make america safer is pretty damn true, wouldn't you michelle?

They claim to be making America safe because that is what some people want to hear.

You know terrorists just don't come from over seas. Remember Timothy McVey?

We are no safer or in no more danger than we were all along.

Very dangerous fuzzy math, especially for the 3500 Americans who have already lost their lives and the troops that are already there. Our country is no safer than it was prior to 9/11. Actually, the US is more detested and has lost credibility in the eyes of most other countries.

Because people listen to him. Because God speaks through him, or whatever. We're not safer, but he's good at making it sound like a funny joke. If I were rich, I'd giggle every time I told the American people what was going on, too, knowing that every American pastor was on my side. His term is almost over, too, he only has to keep the stupid people convinced for one more year, then he's retired.

Too direct?

Good point. I often wonder how stirring up hatred for America and bolstering al'qeada recruitment makes us safer.
