No, bad idea. If we leave Iraq in the state that it's in Al Qaida, Hamas, Palestine or any willed group of terrorists with force could take the place over and use the oil money to fund terrorism. This of course is my opinion. My brother in law went to Iraq right out of high school when the war started and he told me of what the country was like when he reached Baghdad. He spoke with some of the people and found out how it was when Saddam was in power. The country has come a long way already but I do hope that in time we can have the Iraqi's govern and protect themselves and have our troops come home to their families.

This is not a easy question.

The US and all other countries could pull out but there would be civil war and genocide. But that is the was Saddam ruled so maybe that's what Iraq really wants. However, reading other foreign newspapers there are stories that tell a different picture. There are some Iraqi people that do want us to be there.

The US and all other countries could stay and attempt to assist the country in establishing a workable government.

It's a no win situation. Irregardless of how anyone thinks.

we tried to stay away from Iraq but guess what?
fanatic terrorists bombed our city using our airplanes..I am not saying anyone from Iraq had anything to do with it..however.what were we supposed to do..lay down and play dead? The US is in Iraq right now mopping up and if the terrorists want to play let them come on...we didn't start it..
Saddam was in trouble for years with sanctions and was suspected of killing thousands and plotting to get up a 1 million man army and destroy Israel. He was paying the palestinian familys money as a reward for blowing up Israelis..he bombed his own people. He would not cooperate with inspectors..A nasty poison was being mailed around america ..and making people sick..Some say Saddam was behind it..No weapons of mass destruction have been found yet and may never be..but we now have a foothold in the middle east much like we had aGermany and Japan after WW2.we must have bases to stage our troops to win this war on terrorism.and Iraq is a good location..Iran is next by the way..theIranians have a fanatical president and the old mullahs are allowing him to try and start WW3.They believe the muthoer of all prophets will arise and bring an end to all enemys of Shte muslims everywhere. The president of Iran is showing his stupidity by trying to convence the world that the hollocaust was just made up.their was no such thing. Why he probably thinks Hitler was a saint..These people have this crap drilled into them from birth.they are brainwashed into believing anything the devil tells them. The Shaw pahlivi is probably rolling over in his grave right now. He was a decent man who believed in life and liberty in Iran..Now a blight has taken over that country..the taliban wants to make Iran its next Heaven on earth and they will stop at nothing. All these radical forces will come together one day. All these things are the beginning of the end.For who?stay tuned....

I'm one of the weirdos.

I was *very much* against the invasion of Iraq. While so many people were beating their war drums and saying how patriotic they were I was arguing against it.

Now that the soldiers and Marines are over there and the damage has been done, I think it would be a grave mistake to pull out before there is at least a semblance of stability in the country.

The place was a mess before and it's still a mess. It will probably be a bigger mess whenever we pull out, but it's important to make sure a strong government is in place before we pack up our gear and head out.

At this time?

Absolutely Not!

We should have left long ago!

We Won the War and we allowed the Iraqis to have their free elections after we got rid of Saddam Hussein and they put their Government into place!

We should have left immediately after that and we could have saved hundreds of American Lives had we done so in stead of now having them to provide Target Practice for the various religious sects in Iraq who can not settle their own differences!

No...
Having said that...we should never have started something that we could not finish....
However, SOME Iraqi people seem to be hell-bent on destroying themselves....(ie: suicide bombers)...so maybe we SHOULD just leave and let them sort it all out themselves...instead of killing our soldiers, just leave them to kill themselves??? But, what kind of country would we be if we just up and left????
So you see...therein lies the quandary....since we STARTED it...how would it look if we just made a mess and left??? What signal would that send to other countries???? How could we then say we are "humanitarians"????
When 9/11 happened..we just couldn't sit back and do NOTHING....but...was engaging in all out war the answer???
There are no "good" answers...and since you can NOT "un-ring" a bell.....we have to muddle through as best we can...and to at the very least support the men and women who went over there to try to make a difference....and who have made us all proud....

No, we should not pull our of Iraq. Honestly, what do the libs think the benefits would be? I will tell you, the democrats want to pull out now to pin the loss in Iraq on bush. If they win the presidency they don't want to have to make the choice of; A. Pulling out and having the loss of the war, and the mayhem to follow on their record. B. Not pull out and tick off the base that they have been pandering to for years. We have been told from the begining that this would be a long hard war. It seems America is getting too soft and squishy this generation, the U.S. goes in and pounds Iraq in to the sand, but as soon as the Terrorists start to sting and nibble at our forces we go running to momma saying "they hit us, we need to pull out!" We have brave men and women on the ground that have seen soldiers and friends give their lives in this war, and we are going to tell them, you are packing up and going home, we give up. we are going to tell them, your friends died for nothing, becuase we are not invested in helping give you a victory? People forget the Dems voted for this war, this is as much their war as anybodys, they like to pass it off and shrug it off, but this is AMERICA'S war. It makes me sick that Hillary and company can vote to send troops off to fight and die, and then use their loss for political manuvering. Love Bush or hate him, but the man IS supporting our troops, unlike some other people on capital hill.

In any discussion that is brought up against this subject I am always the first to support George Bush in his decision to keep us in Iraq. However, I do not know any soldier that has died nor do I have to worry about a soldier across seas. My first thing to say is, "Would you prefer we fight a war against terrorism over here?"
