ENIAC was created during world war 2, it's original purpose was calculating the trajectories of 16inch naval guns, later they thought they could use it to predict the weather. ENIAC took up a whole room and ran on vacuum tubes, it could only run for a short time before a tube would have to be replaced. For more info..google ENIAC. check it out, it's very interesting :)

eniac, the first fully usable computer, was developed in the us during the late 1930's, and early 1940's. it was used to help break the codes used by the germans before they captured an actual coding machine. though extremely slow by our standards, it wasa the most highly developed computer and was totally made from vacuum tubes and hundreds of miles of wire. physically, it was so large, it took up an entire room in the building it was located. and the room itself was huge. you can use the wiki and get much more info on it.
