No. It is a deflection and not an answer.
I rarely correct grammar, but if I do, I also answer the question.

Grammar correction alone is not a valid answer, but there's more to consider here . Minor errors are to be overlooked, but gross errors usually indicate that the asker is uneducated . Sure , there are exceptions, but the vast majority of people who make those gross errors are also probably lacking in comprehension and understanding .
Now if an asker simply asks a question that has only 1 factual answer, I'd overlook even gross errors . If the asker includes a politically motivated opinion, well then they just opened the door for whatever comes their way . And rightfully so too, because they have just exposed the fact that they can't spell nor use correct grammar, so how in the world are we to respect their opinions when we now know that their comprehension level is lacking and their opinions could very easily been based on bogus information and lack of comprehension .

Poor grammar and spelling bring into question the writer's intelligence and ability to articulate what they are trying to say. To answer your question, the only time grammar correction is a valid answer is when the grammar and spelling are so poor it distracts the reader from the author's point. Especially, when the writer is complaining about the education system.

If i'm answering a question and have 'doubts' with regards to the questioner's skill to apply perfect grammar, i will perfect the grammar, and so on. FIRST then answer the question to the perfect of my skill, afterwards. there is largely one style of question that i do no longer make the corrections ... while a guy or woman is obviously unwell or knows of of a guy or woman or animal that needs instantaneous scientific interest ... then I tell them to tutor off the laptop and bypass to the healthcare expert, the vet, or the psychological well-being institiute right this moment. Grammar is extremely significant to me ... i'm fairly fortuitously married to a dyslexic guy and excellent his grammar and pronunciation each and all of the time ... he does not suggestions as a results of fact he does ultimately learn the perfect way ... yet I homestead schooled all 4 of my teenagers and that all of them comprehend the thank you to apply grammar correct in the two writing and speaking, and the thank you to spell correct. My husband is a staggering guy, by ability of ways ... his dyslexia isn't a 'concern' different than in putting some text cloth into the web pages he designs ... those he has me 'examine spelling and grammar' on earlier he turns them in as 'executed' ... and that i've got caught the CEOs of a number of extensive agencies in blunders. Stuff happens and human beings ought to easily 'recover from it' ... yet i assume i'm nevertheless a mom who cares sufficient to 'perfect' issues as quickly as I see them. sure, I do tell shops and eating places while they have made blunders, too ... they actually like it, as a results of fact 'blunders' can appear as if they 'do no longer care' while all it became is a MISTAKE.

I think technically what ever you put in as answer counts as an answer and its for the person who asks to decide if its a valid answer or not. In case of abusive answers, you can report the same. But, if you want serious answers its better to get your grammar/spelling right, as grammatical errors and spelling mistakes tend to put off people from answering you.

because some people need serious help, and correct vs incorrect grammar can change the context of the question, as well as the understanding.
Plus, do you really want to look like an illiterate to the world?

I do only when the grammar or spelling is so bad that you can't understand what they are actually trying to ask.

they are looking to feel superior rather than face reality.. for as long as they convince themselves they are better than you.. they don't have to accept that what you say may be true.
in the end.. communication is about conveying ideas.. and as long as that message gets threw it doesn't matter if a letter was missed here or there... they just need to grow up.
