The @ symbol is located different on a UK keyboard than a USA keyboard. Go into the Control Panel and the Regional settings. You can switch between the two different keyboard layouts there.

i used to get the " sign instead of the @ sign, you have to swap the language settings if that's the case...

and if you can't actually press the key, open it up and look inside... maybe something is lodged in there?

and if all else fails, buy a new keyboard for a couple of quid from somewhere ;)

Could be dirty, try wedging something under the key, it should just pop off, then you can check.

Is it giving you a " symbol? And then your shift 2 gives the @ sign?

Go to control panel and set your keyboard to read English (UK) and not US.
