I have oil based paint on my bathroom baseboards & trim. I accidently used water based to repaint. I didn't realize that it was oil based until it started peeling off. Is there an "easy" way to fix it?

Not really an easy way. I had the same problem when I repainted some doors that were painted with oil based paint. The only thing that worked was to peel off the paint that wasn't sticking (which wasn't really that hard since it wasn't sticking anyway) and prime it with Zinser oil based primer, then I could paint over the primer with anything I wanted and I haven't had any problems since. Good luck with your project.

The water based paint will not stick unless you remove the oil based paint or rough sand the surfaces to be painted. Check with the hardware store with the best paint people in your town (not Walmart or other Big Chain places) to see if they have a remover for only water based paint...I'm not sure there is one. It may be sand and repaint with oil based.

Lightly rough up the surface with 100 grit sandpaper and you should be OK. You want to make the surface receptive to the new paint without making scratches.

It needs to be removed, then you have to sand the surface to take the sheen off. Then you can repaint

Go back to the paint store and let them know. They will be able to point you to the products you need.
