Usually, you can just ask yourself "Do I feel like I am doing this against my will?," but sometimes the manipulator can be very cunning and make you believe that YOU actually wanted to the task to begin with.

The next line of defense is to ask questions of the person you suspect of manipulating you. "Why?" works well. If you keep asking for their reasoning behind their wanting you to do something, you will eventually find the source of their reasoning... and sometimes that source is to use you.

Send me $50 and I'll tell you. It's for your own good.

No, just kidding. Usually if it feels like something isn't right, then it isn't. If someone repeatedly tries to make you feel guilty about something, feel sorry for them, or feel indebted to them, then they are either consciously or subconsciously trying to manipulate you. A good person helps out others under the right conditions, but someone that repeatedly asks for your help (or for money or whatever) is not really a friend, they're a user.

If they are asking you to do things that just don't feel right with you, you are being manipulated. If they ask for things, don't thank you, repay you or acknowledge your kindness you may be being manipulated. Your gut instinct should tell you.Don't do anything that you don;t agree with or feel good about no matter what their reasoning.

There are many ways.

"If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is."

If someone asks you to take their word for something without evidence or if it doesn't make sense.

If someone asks you to believe something on 'faith'.

If it's a complete stranger and it involves money be suspicious.

In relationships if you see someone lie to others never assume they won't do it to you.

Always side on the side of caution. This world has people who take advantage of others. It's up to you to protect yourself.

good luck.

One knows if they are being pressured and intimidated. Or blackmailed.

"If I'm not being coerced here, why does my arm feel like its being twisted?"
