Just smile a lot (but not so much that it's creepy). Say Good Morning/Good Afternoon/Hello/Hey. Ask him how his day was. That's always sure to get him talking. Talk about recent events in school/work/etc. Once you befriend him, you guys will talk. However, don't be too clingy, as it's a turn-off. Good luck!
