Either get your System reformatted, re-install windows, or switch to Linux, I LOVE Linux, or use System restore from XP help center and set the system back to a time were it worked. Finally try removing any applications and programs that you no longer use. Also check your System for viruses

try booting dafe mode (repeatedly press F8) when you power on, then you'll get Windows Startup the menu.
Load safe mode with networking support (use arrow keys to navigate the menu)

Once in safe mode, try a system restore
start\programs\accessories\system tools\system restore

restore the computer to a point in time before you had the error. reboot and see if that made it any better.

Scan for viruses:
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

You may have too many programs starting up. Start | Run | (type) msconfig OK to check what is starting. But first run the virus check then restart before checking this.

Hope that helps!

You may have a virus/spyware and should do a scan. You may also have too many startup items running. You can go to the start menu, click run, type msconfig, click the startup tab, and disable items you don't need.
