In being addicted & dependent? Your doctor asks you: Do you think you are addicted to the your medication? (He has prescribed this to you over 15 yrs.) You say I probably am by now. Then he says you are not addicted, you are just dependent on it that's all. Why did he say it like that?

I think it is the same thing. I am literally addicted to putting on chapstick. I have been doing it all day long since like middle school (I'm now 32). And my lips do not make their own moisture anymore. So, I guess I'm dependent on it, right?

Dependent means you get them from him via prescription. Addicted means you buy them from anyone, even off the street.

it means you depend on your medication, but you don't have any withdrawal symptoms if you don't take the medicine.
