Another example of the way the law in this country is going down the drain.
I do feel sorry for your mum. And I`m not surprised by the response of the police in this country.
It is no wonder that the police are/have lost/losing respect from the honest people here.
It seems that the youth who are our futre (not all I`ll agree), have no respect for other peoples property/belongings.
Parents are not allowed to hit them, teachers are not allowed to touch them in fear of either retaliation or worse (Teachers Stabbed!!!). They treat the law as a joke, and they treat ASBO`s as a honour.
Some parents (not all) have absolutely no control over their offspring, who act like complete scum.
The law needs to be changed to give people like your mum protection from these..........uneducated scum.

I could not believe what I read in a national newspaper a few days ago - the police arrested a young kid for drawing pictures on a pavement with chalk!!! I mean ffs I did that as a kid.
The police need to wake up and join the real world.
OK rant over.
Have a nice day.
:-)

No, you're not on your own. Sorry about your mum's shop. It's sickening when decent people try to make a living and the police don't care. They forget who pay their wages. My brother was mugged and beaten up twice, by the same person in a gang. The police have the thug's nickname, description, the street where he lives, also other complaints against him. He's still on the streets, mugging and drug pushing. I really can see why vigilante groups form, when the police do nothing.

Unfortunately this is how things are now, the police have no resources and little time to be dealing with what they class as petty crime.
I am a big believer in introducing Bobbies back on the streets and I would pay more tax if it was to happen. I don't feel safe walking the streets anymore and these asbo's they are a joke as they don't actually work and are hardly enforced as once again little time to individual police is given to follow them through.

Proud to be british? not really.. I work hard and to many out there can't be bothered it's to easy for criminals now as no matter what happens they still live in luxury. Prisons are a good example, colour TV's, wages, good food and playstations just to mention a few... More money is spent on food for prisoners than is actually spent on food in the NHS per person..!!!! that shows how wrong it all is...

Things like this are happening on an hourly basis in our country, the police don't appear to care or to even bother to look for suspects anymore, your lucky if a policeman turns up within 24 hours at your door after requesting help, unfortunately a sign or the times and it appals me to be British these days, what is there to be proud about in this country anymore, hope your mom is as alright as she can be after what happened, take good care of her and good luck.

Look at it from the police's perspective: it was only a few hundred dollars' worth of damage, no one was hurt, and the odds of their tracking down the perpetrators is slim-to-none. The costs involved simply aren't worth the benefits.

That having been said, I'm sorry your mum had to be put through this; and I'd suggest that you suggest to HER that she install some security cameras in the shop -- then, she might at least catch the vandals on tape and give the police base a search on....

The local police can be the same way here in the USA too. They either do nothing or act like thugs. It seems like there is no middle ground. There are lots of good things in the UK, so still be proud of the good stuff.

They soon realise what a shambles they have made this country become if we all decide to bugger off and immigrate somewhere else. Who knows? Maybe we'll get the VIP treatment if we swan off to Australia and start terrorising thei.... oh.....silly me, I forgot, British people respect other peoples cultures, so if we all moved to Spain, we'd respect the Spanish traditions and laws etc. Spain, Australia etc wouldnt have it any other way. As if a country would change its culture and laws to accomodate some English family? Shame the filth that come over here dont adjust to our way of life...they try and change British tradition to be more PC and accomodate them. Go Home or Accept It How it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quite frankly i think you can put this sort of behaviour down to the fact that there is no respect from todays youth. Since they took all the teachers power away the yobs think they can do as they like and get away with it. Also its often not worth the police persuing these sorts of crimes as the courts also let them get away with it. Bring back national conscription and toughen up the court punishments and we may see an improvment.

I think the UK is going down the pan fast and Gordon Brown will make it worse. The breakdown of our society, our useless judicial system and our unwillingness to stand up for the things upon which Britain was built are the reasons why I moved abroad.
