It might help to have a degree in animal science. A lot of schools that have animal science and biology programs have close ties to rare and endangered species protection programs. Usually in zoos, even volunteers need some sort of experience or education with animals and their care.

get on a plane that goes to singapore, or do the reverse of the boat people and get there for free,
