Hello,I remember the French scientist Marie Curie, Queen Elisabeth I, who lived in the 15th and 16th centuries and among other things helped to industrialize England, Queen Katerina the Great of Russia (think she did more bad than good, but had an huge impact on Russia and Europe),emperor Napoleon´s wife Josephine(as you know behind every strong man there is a stronger woman),prime minister Golda Meir of Israel and mother Theresa in India, who did so much good for the poor people there, and got the Nobel prize in 1979. Birgitta of Vadstena in Sweden who was canonized in Rome had a very important role for the Christianity in Scandinavia.I´m sure there are other important women who have had an impact on the world, but sorry to say that you remember men´s achievements better than those of the women.Hope you get a lot of answers.

There have been several notable women throughout history:
1. Sacajawea was a guide who led the Lewis and Clark expedition. They would not have survived without her, because at one point they had to stop. They were starving, because even though they were hunting deer, the deer didn't have enough fat to keep them going. They stopped and asked an Indiana tribe to trade with them, but at first the chief refused. Then Sacajaweah walked in. The chief gave a cry and ran to her--she had been kidnapped from that tribe as a young girl, and the chief was her brother! Needless to say, they got their provisions.
2. Hachupset (sp.?) was a pharoah (yes, pharoah) of Egypt. She had been the main wife of the previous pharoah, and when he died, she was childless, but there was a child by a minor wife who could be pharoah. She at first took over as regent, but eventually declared herself pharoah. She even had herself depicted with the false beard that pharoahs wore.
3. Cleopatra was the last of the pharoahs. Based on pictures of her on her coins, she was probably not as beautiful as legend says, but she was extremely well educated and a good leader and tactitian.
