I am 29 weeks pregnant and I'm vomitting like the exorcist.......I felt fine this morning until I got to work, then I started throwing up. Is there anything I can take? I've tried ginger ale and it's not working. Is this normal in the third trimester??

No, you have picked up some kind of gastrointestinal virus - or maybe food poisoning?

You have to let your stomach rest or you will keep vomiting. I would call your doctor and go in to be seen and evaluated for dehydration. They can give you Zofran or something similar to stop the vomiting, and rehydrate you via IV if necessary.

Be sure to talk to your physician about it. Try keeping dry Saltine crackers next to your bed. BEFORE you ever try to get up in the morning, prop your pillow up a little and eat 5 or 6 crackers. Allow them to sit for about 10 minutes then get up. That should help with the vomiting as the crackers absorb a lot of the fluid in your stomach.

If you are pregnant and vomiting; you need to tell your doctor immediately. It is not good for you to be vomit ting like that. Don't hesitate to call. It's not normal in the third trimester.

There was a woman in my lamaze class that would run out of the room at every class to vomit....and she was 35 weeks!!! It can and does happen to some women...if your worried I would call your doctor to see if you caught a bug, but likely its just the pregnancy...try munching some saltines and maybe some camomile tea...
good luck

The ginger in gingerale is artificial...try eating some real ginger. Or as an alternative I was reading what is safe and what isn't safe to take when pregnant in a pregnancy magazine I'm subscribed to and they mentioned that you can take "emetrol" for nausea. You can buy it at any local drug store and it's completely safe. My mother used this when she was pregnant and it worked wonders for her.

I had emesis gravidarum into the beginning of my third trimester.

One word: Zofran.

It is meant for people who are nauseated from their chemotherapy. It works so beautifully, you will never know you had a problem to begin with.

maybe it was something that you ate. Severe vomitting is not good. You should call the DR right away to have you check out. Goodluck

Are you sure you didn't ingest something that could have given you food poisoning? I wouldn't really worry about it, but if it continues for more than 48 hours, go see a doctor.

Please call your doctor today aboutn this. This can be a sign of a problem, when it's this late in pregnancy. Your doctor can give you medication that will help you not throw up too.
