Obviously, the mouse will be dead when you dissect it. But if you rid the left portion, you will not be able to study the anatomy of the mouse extensively. A mouse, like most vertebrates, seem bilaterally symmetrical superficially, but their internal anatomy is not; organs like the liver, the heart and the stomach for example, are oriented to either the left or the right side of the body. So you might miss some of the parts when you are studying the mouse... don't throw away the left or right portions of it!

EWWWWW, poor mouse! I faked being sick the day we had to dissect a frog in Biology in high school. I knew that's what we'd do so I convinced my parents to let me stay home that day.

I would have been in the nurse's office or on the floor from fainting.

PS. The mouse you're writing about is already dead, right?

Since it only has it's right legs now, it can only run in counter-clockwise circles. :)
