Based on all the questions related to abortion, who takes care of the child, etc., I see that the Liberals think that all of the poor kids out there today would be better off dead. Nice.

Abortion is a choice, made by a parent who cant have the baby, or cant take care of it.
i'd rather been aborted then the rest of my life beaten and told how it was my fault that my mother couldnt be an actress, or its my fault my dad had to drop out of college, or my fault that we dont have any money. and it eventually lead to suicide or parents killing the child.

I think your question is extremely trite and has no basis in fact whatsoever, but I am going to play along. I am pro-choice, and I would like to say that, again, that does not make me pro-abortion. It's about who gets to decide. Everyone wants to dictate everyone elses lives, which, by the way, is very anti-Jeffersonian, and we all know how much conservatives (as do I) like Jefferson. But seriously, why is it (and if you are one in a million who this doesn't apply too, forgive me) that conservative "pro-life" people are the same folks who want to end welfare and other social programs that require the citizens of this country to help each other out of terrible situations? If I was Pro-Life (whatever that means), I would think that I would be for making the welfare system top-notch for, say, that 16 year old girl who decides to have a child over an abortion but won't have the means of taking care of that child. I'm dead serious about this. How can you say that Liberals think poor kids would be better off dead? First of all, I think welfare is integral. I agree that our current system is completely flawed, but the answer is not to stop helping people. We need to put some work in to it, and that's something I would love to see Pro-Life people help to take on. If you are truly so concerned about "poor children" then back it up. Not just by ranting about abortion. Have you ever donated your time to a battered womans clinic? I worked at center for battered women for 3 1/2 years. This is a call to put your money where your mouth is. In order to effectively convince people that abortion is not an option, you need to be sure YOU are doing everything you can to help make the system work (ie: welfare, education incentives, a better adoption system) rather than just ranting on about your "personal" beliefs. You will never convince people who disagree with you to change their stance based on anger or an opinion. Let's see some faith in action here. Yes, I just drew a line in the sand. Now lets see how many thumbs down votes I get...

40 + million aborted babies since the legalization of abortion in 1973. As far as I'm concerned abortion ranks right up there with suicide as being one of the most self centered, selfish acts a person can do. After all, the person having the abortion is ONLY thinking of themselves.
I do agree, if the pregnancy is from incest, rape or it threatens the mothers life, a person should not be forced to endure further trauma.
But when a girl spreads her legs for fun, and then gets pregnant knowing that pregnancy is very possible, sorry, but I can't feel sorry for her.
As far as the ones saying, yeah but here you are wanting to cut social programs that would help support this child. I've said it before and I'll say it again. My tax dollars should not be going to someone because of their dumb choices. Why should I have to pay for someone else's mistakes?
If you feel your old enough to handle sex, then you are old enough to handle the possible consequences.

Rape or incest accounts for about 1% of abortions. So that argument is moot. Mostly they are done because the baby is an "inconvenience". How about the next pro choicer I run into that inconveniences me, I pop a cap in 'em?

Reasons for abortions

In 2000, cases of rape or incest accounted for 1.0% of abortions.[6] Another study, in 1998, revealed that women reported the following reasons for choosing an abortion:[7]

* 25.5% Want to postpone childbearing
* 21.3% Cannot afford a baby
* 14.1% Has relationship problem or partner does not want pregnancy
* 12.2% Too young; parent(s) or other(s) object to pregnancy
* 10.8% Having a child will disrupt education or job
* 7.9% Want no (more) children
* 3.3% Risk to fetal health
* 2.8% Risk to maternal health
* 2.1% Other

It does seem that way. They always throw in that, I don't want my tax dollars going to all these unwanted kids. But that is why we have taxes. Just because the mom didn't want to take responsibility, doesn't mean that someone else won't. I love children, and I will do whatever I can to help. I want to foster and adopt children. There are people willing to step up and take care of the children that their moms wouldn't take care of. And all this talk of being under 18? I was 17 when I had my first. Age doesn't really matter, it's the willingness to put that baby first and grow up. Abortion is removing your responsibilty by killing your baby.

I posted this to another forum but it deserves to be posted here as well:

Roe vs. Wade will most likely NEVER be overturned.
But if that unlikeliness were ever to occur, currently there are 7 states that will protect abortion rights residing in those states, and I'm very proud to say, I reside in one of those states.

Right now, only Alabama and Missouri have introduced legislations that would ban abortion outright, even though the Supreme court hasn't given any indications it will allow states to prohibit abortion.

When it's a fetus, you oppose abortion, but once it's born, where are you? You have the audacity to force someone to continue with a pregnancy b/c in YOUR opinion(not caring about the pregnant woman's opinion when it's HER body and the fetus is in HER-not YOU) but then you walk away. Yeah-you're quick to want to CONTROL women in what choices they should have, but then you walk away. ANTI ABORTIONISTS are some of the most intrusive, ignorant busybodies on this earth.
Abortion is never going away. Learn to keep your nose out of what is ultimately a personal choice not to mention a private matter.

I consider myself to be somewhat Liberal, but I don't want to thinks kids would be better off dead. I don't know how you can jsutify that stance, when it is the conservitives that tend to cut funding for education, health care for the poor, welfare, wic..seems like they prefer the child to be better off dead to me.

It's not only liberals that believe in abortion. I think i would rather a fetus not see the light of day, than be born to a mother and father who don't want it. Or who will abuse it, neglect it, and basically make that child grow into another pill popping, drug abusing turd. Now I'm sure there are a few kids that grew up in foster homes that now lead successful lives. But I'm also sure they are far and few between.

I think that pleasefindasoul below has made a great point. and look, they already got a thumbs down vote! haha! you were right, man. It's all talk with most of the pro-life people. Judging from their couches, but ask them to go out and put their "faith into action" and they'd rather just yell about it. kudos to you, sir!

Only 1 million + abortions since RvsW. Who knows what good may have been done by one of these. Always people looking to adopt. We won't even mention the Liberals, they want to give our country away. Is it a choice or a mistake? We cannot and should not judge. We all have free will. :( God bless

and all the reps want to cut off healthcare and funding for those who are poor. What's your point? That neither side really cares about the issue and just uses it to stir people up to vote for them? I agree.
