David Sedaris is hillarious and all of his colelctions are really great. Vonnegut's Welcoem to the Monkey House is also very good. Try getting a "Best Short Stories of 2006" book (or any preceeding years) for a grab bag of authors.

Gabriel García Márquez - he has several short story collections and some of them really make you think. He's known for his novels, but his short stories often ended up being repeated in the novels because they were THAT good. They're originally written in Spanish but are published in translation now.

We are a group of rising short story writers that put out a monthly contest full of Brand new short stories and another with brand new poetry. Most of us are already published in print and electrons, but some are brand new

We have two groups. One of writers and one of readers who critique these works.

You are most welcome to find awesome new short stories in any genre there.
