why should we stick to the stereo types?

Its not so much a stereotype as it is descrimination that I have to deal with on a daily basis.

I am an educator in the South and I work in an urban school. People are very quick to blame "white" people for the problems that they face. It bothers me because here I am, trying to help these underpriveledged black students and all I hear from my superiors is that the tests they take were made by white people for white people. Could there be a bigger generalization?

The problem is a sort of reverse type racism. Blacks want to be seen as equal to whites, yet they keep making excuses that the white man is keeping them from doing things. Maybe instead of complaining all of the time these people can start looking into the real problems within their culture (rap music, atheletes, drugs) and focus on solving them.

Its frustrating working for someone who claims not to be a racist but carries out daily acts that disputes those claims. I don't know, but I do know that I'm getting tired of it.

People thinking because I am an attractive woman that I am also arrogant. My looks are a gift given by my parents not by my choice and I look at it that way. A car accident can take that from me at any moment and if that is all I have, I would be lost. People always prejudge people at face value which is absurd. You'll miss out on a lot of good people in life by judging before you know them. We should not stick to stereo types because people are who they are NOT what they are.

I honestly hate stereo types because everyone is so different! The biggest one I am faced with is being sort of cast out for being in an interracial relationship. You wouldn't believe the looks and stares we receive from people when we're grocery shopping, or out in public! It embarrases us sometimes but we don't let it get to us because we know some people are just ignorant! I feel like people see my husband as being "insignificant" because he's black and I'm white. He's the most wonderful, caring, hard-working man I've ever met, and I wouldn't have him any other way!

All the stereotypes I get about being a young woman. It drives me nuts sometimes how people just assume things about others and believe in stereotypes.

My boss is the most stereotypical jew ever. We shouldn't really try and stick to any stereotype, but sometimes people make it easy.

how about THIS weird one: my boss thinks that computers are basically porn machines. she also is unfortunate enough to believe that cell phones can RUIN a computer if they are placed too near one another.

The whole "evil whitey" thing, and how I somehow had something to do with slavery (through ancestry) and still oppress blacks to this day.
