This shouldn't surprise me, but it did nevertheless. They really have no shame. In past years, they have tried to market themselves as patriotic cogs in our war machine. They've made commercials with their employees smiling alongside soldiers. In the corporate world, loyalty ends at the bottom line.

OK, this is not just some corporation moving overseas. This is potentially damaging to the security of Americans, active-duty soldiers in particular. 70% of Halliburton's capital investment is an obscenely large amount of money. Some of this money will undoubtedly end up in the hands of terrorist groups. They also endangered Americans through KBR, dealings with Iran, and landing no-bid contracts. This ain't some sweatshop they are building over there.

When Bush is finally out of office, I hope our next president has the guts to demand a Congressional hearing about Halliburton and how they got the government contracts etc.
Fearing something like this could be the reason they are hightailing it out of town.

US tax laws have been forcing companies to move their headquarters overseas for many years now. It's been their only way to remain globally competitive.

As for government doing something about it, why do people think the government should be able to prevent companies from moving? That's a lot of unconstitutional power they want to give government. Which will not result in any jobs staying here, but actually fewer being created, with a net employment loss. That's what socialism does.

And this is different than the other 499 fortune 500 companies how? Look where Dell's tech support recieves calls from? Where do your Nike shoes come from? Where is Microsoft making XBoxes? Its mainly our government allowing ALL these companies to do this. Don't just blame Dick Cheney's ex company as the only bad thing going on right now. If we are going to fix it. FIX ALL OF THEM.

Well I was them I'd move too. The Libtards blame everything on Bush and Haliburton. I figuared you would be happy because you kicked them out. They decided to take their toys and tax money and leave. When are you libs going to learn that when you constantly beat a person up they won't hang around.

Supposedly only operations are shifted, and I'm going to guess that is for tax purposes. But they will still be bidding on contracts here in the U.S.. And yes, I agree they are shameless.

I agree with you. BUT, who's more to blame, Hallibuton for doing it OR the federal government for passing laws, which allow them to do it???? I'd go with the latter !!!
