No it isn't necessary, but at some point in your life you may want them to truly know you.

I will be truthful. I am 48 years old so I guess you can say I have been around the block a few times meaning I have had alot of experience so I am not going to dress this answer up to sound pretty. Okay, this may hurt your parents to find out that you are gay, some people have a hard time excepting things like this especially when it involves their own child but.....it would hurt them even more if they find out another way instead of you comming to them yourself and telling them. You are their son and if they love you, even though they may not accept this at first, they will come around and even though they may not approve of your lifestyle they will learn to accept it. But of course that has much to do with how close of a relationship you have with your parents. The truth is always best. Be a man and tell them no matter how hard that may be. Good luck to you

I agree, Mom's will find out and sometimes before you do-I'm a mom.
But before you jump off the deep end, consider this: Make sure you are really Gay and not Bi, get to know yourself first-big differences there. It is best to wait till you are at least 18-just incase you get thrown out of the house, that does happen sometimes.
A nice, pleasant chat, in comfortable surrounding, is the best way. No need to go into all the particulars, some things are private after all.
I would suggest you talk to your mom first and then you should have a better idea about talking to your dad.
Be careful and don't dump too heavy a load on them-keep it light and easy. You'll be glad you did.
Much luck

No not nessasary, though at some point at your life, you will probably want to tell them. If they dont already suspect or know. I came out around your age because I felt like I was lying to them and could not continue that.

It may not be nessasary to tell your parents that you are gay, but what are you hiding from? Be real, be yourself and be proud of what you are.

i think it is... but that doesnt mean u have to now, your 16... if you dont feel comfortable telling them now there will be no harm in waiting. however if you do get involved in a relationship then you shouldnt hide it.... remember mum's know everything! and if they dont, they will find out! do you parents a favour, if not now, when your ready, there is always that chance they find out another way and the situation turns messy, as they hear from rumours etc... be honest and open and stay calm... good luck.

for your own sake i would then you dont have to pretend to be someone else when you around your parents or other people that dont know
you should always be yourself even if others dont agree with who you are or what you do
your parents will find out sooner or later its better that they find out from you
just sit then down and tell them
you can do it

They will probably find out eventually and hopefully it will not be due to an embarrassing situation.

You will have to decide for yourself if and when to tell them because you don't know how they will react.

Good luck.

Not really, you may want to later on if you have a partner, but generally you don't have to, noone's forcing you.
